How to choose a lipstick without going to the store

A lipstick can change your whole face, but it's also the product most often bought wrong online: the bullet, the website photo and the colour on your lips rarely match. Here you can try every shade on your own photo or with your camera, in its real colour, and compare it with others before you decide.

To get it right, look at three things:

  • Your undertone. Cool: blue-reds, pinks and berries. Warm: corals, brick and golden nudes. Neutral: almost anything.
  • Your contrast. If your hair and skin are very different, you can carry intense lips. If they're similar, softer shades suit you better.
  • The finish. Matte looks more intense and lasts longer; satin is more comfortable; gloss adds fullness.
