Who we are, why we built Shadepick and how we choose the products you can try on.
Shadepick was born from a very common frustration: buying makeup online is a gamble. You see a gorgeous lipstick on a website, order it, and on your lips it looks nothing like the photo. Going to the store doesn't always help either: testers aren't always hygienic, they don't have every shade, and store lighting is misleading.
What we do
We've built a virtual makeup try-on that runs in your phone's browser. Upload a photo, open your camera or pick a model, and try real-brand lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadows, eyeliners and brow products in their exact shade. Compare them side by side, see them in complete looks, and find out which colours suit you with our colour analysis test.
How we do it
- Privacy by design. All face processing happens on your device. Your photo, your face points and your colour analysis are never sent to any server.
- True-to-product colour. Each shade is rendered from the product's colour code while preserving the light and texture of your skin. We check colours against real swatches and update them when we find differences.
- Honest recommendations. We recommend products based on how they suit your colouring and the look you're after — not on any commission we might earn.
How we're funded
Shadepick is free. We're funded by affiliate links (if you buy a product through our buttons, the store pays us a small commission at no cost to you) and by Google AdSense ads, which are only shown outside the try-on. We explain this in detail on our affiliate disclosure page.
