Which brow colour to choose for your hair
The in-between rule, how to avoid brows that are too dark, and what to do with dyed or grey hair.

Try it onBrows frame the face and, done well, change your expression more than any other product. The most common mistake is going too dark: the result is a harsh brow that ages you.
The general rule
- Blonde or light brown hair: choose a brow product one or two shades deeper than your hair.
- Medium or dark brown hair: choose one one or two shades lighter than your hair.
- Black hair: skip pure black; a very dark brown or "ebony" looks more natural.
By hair colour
Light or platinum blonde: light taupe or dark blonde. Warm browns can turn orange.
Dark blonde and light brown: taupe or soft brown.
Medium brown: a neutral medium brown.
Dark brown: dark brown or espresso.
Black: ebony or a very dark brown.
Red: browns with a warm cast, or even soft auburn tones.
Grey or silver: taupe or soft grey; very dark browns look severe.
Cool or warm
Beyond depth, look at temperature:
- If your hair has golden or copper reflections, go for warm browns.
- If it has ashy reflections, choose taupe or cool browns.
Dyed hair
Go by your current hair colour rather than your natural one, but stay a touch softer. If you change colour often, an in-between taupe works with almost everything.
Technique: strokes, not blocks
- Brush your brows upwards.
- Fill only the gaps with short strokes in the direction of hair growth.
- Work from the centre outwards; keep the front of the brow softest.
- Set with a gel.
In the brow try-on you can compare natural and defined intensity and see which shade blends best with your hair before buying.
